PRESENTATION AND APPROPRIATION WORKSHOP OF THE DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR MONITORING PUBLIC CONTRACTSIN CAMEROON

On September 15, 2022 in Yaoundé, the Consortium of CSOs ADIN, AFROLEADERSHIP, CRADEC, DMJ and Transparency International Cameroon, organized a workshop for the presentation and appropriation of the digital platform on the monitoring of the Public Order in Cameroon, www.cameroon-ocd.org . About thirty people from public administrations, local authorities and technical development partners, CSOs, youths involved in participatory and inclusive development through public finance and natural resource management for the implementation of the SDGs in Cameroon took part in the workshop.

The Cameroon Open Contracting Data Platform (www.cameroon-ocd.org) is mainly used to contribute alongside public institutions to the use of uniform data standards to publish and report information throughout the public procurement process.

This digital platform for the publication and standardisation of public procurement data in Cameroon was created during 2022 in compliance with the Open Contracting Data Standards (OCDS).

As stated in paragraph 432 of the National Development Strategy 2020-2030 (NDS-30), in the area of procurement, the platform will contribute in the long term to further guaranteeing free competition, transparency during the entire process and preventing cases of corruption.

Also, the project "Strengthening Budget Governance for Sustainable Basic Service Delivery with Due Respect for the Environment" is a way to contribute to the national framework for monitoring public procurement. The action - the fruit of cooperation between Cameroon and the European Union - responds to the objective of the strategic plan to support Cameroonian civil society organisations in their efforts to contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth in Cameroon. The project is also in line with the specific objective of the project on strengthening transparency, a concern for the provision of essential basic services.
